Community Overview
The Hmong people began arriving, through sponsorship, in Colorado after the Vietnam War in 1975. The community consists of refugees from Laos and first generation families. Colorado is ranked 6th in the nation with a population estimated at 6,500 people. The majority of the Hmong live in northwest Denver Metro cities such as Westminster, Broomfield, Thornton, Brighton, Commerce City, Federal Heights and Northglenn.
