Denver Community Overview
Denver's European community is diverse and has roots that date to the 1850's. Many of the immigrants that traveled to Denver started out in large U.S. coastal cities such as New York and Boston; others came from farm country in the Midwest. Commonly, they were lured west and to Denver when open land, gold, business opportunities and a fresh start were touted as part of the American Dream.
Although many of Denver's early European and Eastern European immigrants have since assimilated into the general culture there are neighborhoods and noteworthy establishments throughout the city that reflect their rich traditions through markets, churches, restaurants, local businesses and art galleries.
Denver is a sister city with Brest, France and Potenza, Italy.
